It’s very rare I catch a sunrise… but catching It’s very rare I catch a sunrise… but catching a big red full moon rising out of the water tonight while I was walking the esplanade after work… that was pure bliss!! Been doing lots of meditating and journalling lately, so sitting under a full moon tonight just capped it off! Very grounding and so grateful to live in a beautiful part of the world. X

Happy Friday to all my business owner friends and people on a mission to make this world a little better with what your 'special sauce' is! This is a happy little story about an old client of mine soon to be back in the Divine Creative fold again. 5 years ago I came into their company, and completely redid their brand including their logo, all their stationery, brochures, annual report, signage, website, video, marketing strategy... THE LOT! They loved it and then right when everything was good... the GM left - under strained circumstances. And because I was associated with him, after my last project was completed they stopped using my services. But over the next few years every time they'd send me a random email with a quick question or a request when they were in a pickle, I'd help them out. No questions asked, no bad blood, and no request for payment. I figured a 5-10 min response from me was no big deal considering our past relationship and it was just kind to help out quickly. So guess who got back in touch this week! That client! One of the original board members who remembered what an amazing job we did, wants me to work on their upcoming annual report and website again, and confessed that one of the main reasons why he got back in touch is because I kept the lines of communication wide open and friendly during that time. In short, he didn't feel embarrassed or sheepish to call me, because I never got weird about them using other people. Let's be realistic, clients move on all the time. So don't lose the plot, just smile and be gracious. AND KEEP THEM IN YOUR MARKETING LOOP!!! (this is why email marketing and consistent social media is soooooo important!!). And when the pendulum swings back around again as it so often does, accept them back with big wide open arms! I've been in business nearly 25 years and it happens over and over again. If you did a good job in the first place and you find a way to stay top of mind... people always come back to you. It's the basic Law of Reciprocity! So keep giving, be good at what you do, keep smiling, and let the universe take care of the rest. xo
When I turned 50 last year I very nearly imploded! When I turned 50 last year I very nearly imploded! Ha ha, I look back at it now and shake my head at how tough I was on myself. It all came from a place of having too many rigid expectations on being at a certain place in my life by a certain time. And even though it took a little while and losing my voice for a couple of months, as soon as I realised I had to let go of those expectations and the "I should be" statements, I started feeling soooooo much better. I also changed the things that were in my control, that I wasn't happy about. (We can do that you know!!) • End that relationship if it isn't working for you (and you've given it a red hot go). • Sack that client/friend/family member if they make you miserable. • Forgive people that have 'done you wrong'. They're only doing the best they can. • Not where you thought you'd be in life? Let those societal expectations go. You're EXACTLY where you're meant to be, so just be there and learn what you're supposed to by being in that experience, and then move through it rather than avoid it, because the lesson never leaves you! • Love the people who stand by you, appreciate them. And tell them. • Find what you are passionate about, and pursue that. We are allowed to feel joy every day, pursue that. • Get to know yourself and your triggers. And then work on them if they are negatively impacting you. There is an opportunity for growth every day if we remain open. • Become your own best friend. Learn how to self soothe - not look for comfort/praise/acceptance from others. • Laugh and love. It doesn't have to be a romantic partner. Love your friends. Love your kids. Love your family. There is so much love around us, revel in what you have rather than what you don't. • Love yourself. You are uniquely awesome. I'm 51 in a couple of weeks and I'm happy to say that I'm really okay with it. I now realise I'm in an awesome stage of my life, no matter how different it may look to society's expectations of where I "should be". I learn something new about myself every day, and can always find something to be grateful for and to love, and that being healthy and alive is such a gift. And that is all that matters. x
Well I’m all for trying new things, and last nig Well I’m all for trying new things, and last night we went to the Nitro Drag Races! My ears are possibly permanently damaged from the noise of the engines, my throat is dried out from the fumes, and I don’t think my nervous system will ever get over the first race and the physical impact of the sound waves hitting you in the guts when the cars take off…!!! But wow, what a great adrenalin rush if you’re into cars and things that go bloody fast! Sometimes the simplest things in life are the best Sometimes the simplest things in life are the best. Smiling at a stranger and giving them a kind compliment for no reason at all but to make them feel good. Being grateful for what you do have in the moment, and not worrying about what you think you want. Getting out of bed and catching the early part of the morning before ‘life’ kicks in. Move your body, even if just going for a walk in nature. Let the early morning sun and fresh air hit your face and then… Sit. Watch. Breathe. Just slow down! Whatever has to happen can wait and if it can’t, make the time and get up earlier. Think of 10 things you love about yourself and say them to yourself slowly. Feel it. Send a message to somebody that you care about and tell them 10 things you appreciate about them. Give without expecting anything in return. Forgive people, just let it go. Forgive yourself. We can be our worst critics. Stop that negative self talk. Smile. Laugh. And share your good mood with everyone you come into contact with. Because happiness is a way of life and it is contagious. And if you are unhappy with some things in your life, use this early morning time to create the vision of what you want, and hold those good feeling emotions with you all day. What I’m finding lately with new clients is that What I’m finding lately with new clients is that they’re doing ‘bits and pieces’ of marketing in a really adhoc kind of way, but they have no real strategy to the content they create, and certainly no consistency around its delivery! And then they’re disappointed when it gets lame results so they stop altogether! Marketing is such an opportunity for your business to grow. But it’s also a massive time drain with little rewards if you don’t do it smart and make real connections with your audience, which result in new business. More and more I’m putting together marketing strategies and action plans for clients to either run themselves, or continue on with me to help them find a marketing assistant and then train them up to be a really valuable resource in their business. Their number one job is creating content and making you as visible (and appealing!) as possible to your potential customers. And your job is to keep being your brilliant self and delivering an awesome service! You’re probably not a marketing expert… and you don’t need to be. That’s how we support you and your team. Being outdoors is my love language, so when the we Being outdoors is my love language, so when the weather forecast wasn’t rain and I had a coaching client 5 mins from here this morning… no prizes for guessing where I headed next with my laptop and notepad to do some work ON my business (and not just in it!) Take your shoes off, sit on the grass, feel the sun and breeze on your skin and let yourself think and strategize big for the upcoming year!! We have had such challenging times the past couple of years that have seen so many businesses crumble. Life hasn’t returned back to normal. It is different. And we need to catch up and map out a path of how we take our business forward on the other side of lockdowns. Staffing and reinvigorating their business are my clients’ biggest challenges. Motivating tired and stressed (and sick!) team members. Finding new team. Reinvigorating bank balances. Finding new markets. Learning new technology. Finding ways to excite your audience who are completely over zoom and still unsure about public events. Reinventing tired old marketing strategies… there’s a lot to do. And it can be overwhelming. So the first step is get in tune with what you want to achieve this year and next, map out a plan to get you there and figure out who’s going to help you. Your kindness, sensitivity, creativity, humour, dedication, and loyalty are such beautiful traits. Watching you jump up on stage last night and sing, totally in the moment, made me so proud. You are always such a team player, to watch you step up on your own and try something solo was amazing and one of my favourite memories of you so far. Wishing you the most amazing adventures in life and can’t wait to watch you shine even brighter! You have a wonderful base of friends who we all loved partying with last night, a gorgeous partner who we adore (and adores you), a loving family who will always have your back… you really do have the world at your feet! April has been a very social month! Love catching April has been a very social month! Love catching up with these girls (and the boys). We met through a business group and it has grown into such a supportive and fun-filled friendship. So grateful. These are my ‘dream big and live even bigger friends!! Everyone needs some of those! xo
Only in 2022 would you be attending a Christmas Pa Only in 2022 would you be attending a Christmas Party in April!!! But we finally got there and celebrated hard with our wonderful clients @cateringhq at the very beautiful Doltone House Hyde Park. The professionalism, generosity and success of Steve and Albie and their massively growing team over the past few years just makes me so happy. I've loved being part of their journey and sharing in their success on nights like this is just the icing on the cake. In the past few years (taking into consideration 2 of them were in lockdown!) they're now based in 11 different club sites around Sydney and surroundings. They've opened 2 new Asian Dumpling concept restaurants. They have a new warehouse and kitchen site for their own Catering HQ Logistics company, and just recently partnered with hospitality app Hospitality Genie (which we've just started helping them create fresh marketing material for!). And they now even have their own finance division! It just takes my breathe away to see them grow and it was great to be part of it and reconnect with their awesome management team, get to meet up with old business friends and make some new ones! Looking forward to the future with these guys, it's always fun, fast and very, very fulfilling. Not gonna lie, I’ve always been a bit of a night Not gonna lie, I’ve always been a bit of a night owl! I love how quiet it is at night when everyone has gone to bed. But recently I have been getting up early on weekend mornings to go to the beach and catch the first part of the day, eating fresh fruit for brekkie in the early morning sunshine and going for a nice walk along the esplanade. And it truly is beautiful, and very healing. I’m even considering confronting my fear of waves and learning how to ocean swim over winter. (I’m the girl that fell over in knee high water last year at the beach In rough waves and broke her wrist!! So doing this is a big deal for me!) Much love to everybody who reached out to me this week and was so caring. It truly helps and I have so much gratitude for everybody in my life. I let go of people long ago that were angsty, judgmental or had draining energy. And the difference it makes is amazing. You really do get to choose who you do life with, and I’ve chosen very well. I don't know if you ever get over a loss like Stev I don't know if you ever get over a loss like Steve. How could you? He was larger than life itself. He filled the room with his energy and charisma and had such a way with people from every walk of life. He oozed authenticity. Everyone either loved him, wanted to drink with him, or was intimidated by him... or maybe a little of all of the above! Either way, I was lucky enough that he was my husband, stepfather to my children and the man I thought I'd spend the rest of my life with. It's been 5 years since he passed today and I've learned a lot... sometimes the hard way. But I am proud to say I have gotten to know more about myself in 5 years than I ever knew in the 45 years before that. And what I've come to learn is how important it is to have a strong sense of who YOU are as a lone person, and to have the strength and grace to sit with yourself when life isn't going as you would choose. I have to be honest, I've been chasing that feeling of deep connection and love to get back what I miss the most about my old life... having a 'complete' family and a sense of belonging with somebody. And what I've come to learn is that all along that feeling is deep inside of yourself... (I'm still learning that one!) So today I am sending so much love to everybody that knew him, loved him, miss him and especially to his kids, our kids, his friends and our families. So much love. You are never forgotten Steve. It was a privilege to be in your life and to have shared so much with you. It was way too short, but definitely one of the greatest gifts of my life. xx
HOW ARE PEOPLE ‘EXPERIENCING' YOU AND YOUR BUSIN HOW ARE PEOPLE ‘EXPERIENCING' YOU AND YOUR BUSINESS? I’ve been working with a few different restaurants lately on how to create better engagement with their socials, and to get more people to visit their businesses. And you would think it’s pretty simple wouldn’t you… cook good food, have decent service, create a friendly atmosphere and you’ll be a success! Well yes, to a degree. But also, no. Because it’s easy to be average, everyone is doing that! But what if you actually want to do be KNOWN for what you do and have droves of consistent business? People are fickle and just being good at what you do is not going to ensure you are going to keep your doors open. ✔️ You need to be known for what you are BEST at. ✔️ You need to be on top of people’s tongues when somebody asks about what you do, that you are the ONLY person / business / restaurant / service provider that they recommend. You have to seriously look at how you ENGAGE and CONNECT with your audience. What do you do that is better than anybody else? (If you’ve been in business successfully for a while, there’s always something we can find.) 🙃. What makes you different? 😎. What makes you superior?! And how do you make people FEEL after they have bought from you? ❤️ Do you know WHY they buy from you? Are they blown away at every step of the process and are so impressed with you that they wouldn’t go anywhere else? Do they tell others about you? What is their EXPERIENCE of you and your business? Because this is real marketing. You can pay for ads, have a great graphic designer, glossy brochures, fancy websites and beautiful office spaces… but if your BRAND EXPERIENCE sucks, then there is nothing you can do to fix this except get better! One of the quickest ways to create this connection is to show up consistently in all your marketing, deliver exactly what you say you will (if not better) and ensure that your customers have such an amazing experience with your brand that they don’t consider even looking elsewhere. LESSONS FROM ROCK CLIMBING I went back out for my LESSONS FROM ROCK CLIMBING I went back out for my second go at rock climbing yesterday and graduated to the second level! (I'm following the little black rocks on this course with an overhang in the first section, if you're interested in how it works - you aren't allowed to just grab onto any colour rock!) Why I particularly like rock climbing is because: 💪 It's physical and a great workout! 👏 It's a challenge on many levels... you don't get to 50 and not climb a few personal mountains, so the analogy of climbing things and getting over your fears is not lost on me at all! 😀 I can do it with a top chick like Anna, who frequently encourages me a lot to get out of my comfort zone, which is a good thing! 🤓 It's problem solving in mid air, your brain working just as much as your body! 🤸‍♀️ When you get out of your comfort zone, it expands your thoughts around what is possible in other areas of your life where you could be growing ⭐️ There is so much trust required. It's awesome for letting go of control - which is limiting in itself. I am learning trust in myself and my abilities, trust in my equipment, trust in partner on the ropes... 🎯 and trust that everything will be ok in life if you just keep a keen eye on any real dangers, rationalise/prepare for them, and then take that leap and propel yourself forward. Yesterday wasn’t the best weather day for a harb Yesterday wasn’t the best weather day for a harbour cruise on Sydney Harbour… but the past couple of years haven’t been the best time for a lot of businesses too! My clients O’Brien Palmer run their annual harbour cruise to celebrate and recognize their business relationships and I wouldn’t miss it for anything! It’s definitely what you make of it and the attitude that you bring that determines the outcome! I made new business friends, cemented my relationships with my clients/friends even further, met some potential new business, and even booked a gig for my band! Ha ha. And I could easily have opted out and stayed at home where it was nice and warm and dry, and missed all these opportunities. Life is what you make it, and how you do one thing is how you do everything. Love your life, don’t worry about a bit of discomfort, support those you care about, be open to new opportunities and see the potential in everything! It’s an adventure!! I caught up this week with my coaching, branding a I caught up this week with my coaching, branding and website client Greg Smith, from Admins The Answer. What a legend, he has had really good growth in every aspect of his business over the past 12 months, but none moreso than in his mental attitude towards his business and expansion. When we came together a year ago and created his marketing strategy, I encouraged him to think globally for his business vision. Not just "be the best in his local area"... but to think on a bigger, worldwide global scale. And at the time he was a bit bashful about it, but after our catch up this week, he thanked me for planting that tiny seed. Because every time he revisits his mission and vision (which should be daily!), it resets his brain and he starts ACTING like a business owner on a global path, and therefore CREATING far more OPPORTUNITIES than if he'd remained small in his thinking. And no surprises that soon he'll be opening up his business all around Australia. And then why not the world!! So my point is... why limit ourselves to thinking small? What's the worst that can happen? You become the best in the state or country? I don't think you'd view that as failure even if you didn't make it to a global level. The danger is, when you set the benchmark so low... you will never get past that low bar. And that's why you need a marketing and performance coach to help you through that thinking and planning. Trying not to sound corny… just remembering to be grateful for good health and happiness, even amongst all the messiness and the chaos! And to welcome in all the opportunities and growth. Life is good and should be cherished. I’ve gone a little quiet and inward since last years lockdown, it’s taking a bit to come back… but it’s coming!
