Day 4 of my trip to Uluru. My conference is over, Day 4 of my trip to Uluru. My conference is over, Mark is here, and we spent the day walking 11km around the base of Uluru and then back out in the evening for drinks, a glorious sunset, and dinner under the stars.
It was truly beautiful!
Sooooo good to be able to travel again. Will never take it for granted!

For the next few days you will find me in Yulara v For the next few days you will find me in Yulara visiting Uluru with Tina Tower - Her Empire Builder. I believe so strongly in upskilling and learning from the best, alongside other dedicated women on the same journey. And Tina’s mentoring program for online business really is outstanding! I soak up all the content I can and bring it back for my own clients wanting to master the online world and personal branding.

But tonight… we partied in true Queen of the Desert style, sipping champagne viewing Uluru and kata tjuta, and then experiencing the field of lights. Life is to be lived, and I love doing it surrounded by such amazing women who all support each other! Inspiration and connection are two of my strongest values, and I love loving true to them.

Man we live in a beautiful country. It’s my third time here and it never gets old.

There is so much more to 'us' than what we 'do' in There is so much more to 'us' than what we 'do' in our businesses, and we should talk about this too in our marketing - because people really do care about who you truly are. And sometimes it's all you have to set you apart from your competitors. So true to my word, I love sharing my body building journey, and equally love talking about my new leisure past time as a singer in Evolution Rock - a Sydney rock covers band that I've been gigging with for 6 months now.

It says so much more about me as a business owner than any amount of words. Creative, brave, fun loving, passionate, a team player... these are all traits I could tell you I have, but I'd rather show you by example.

So in case you don't know the back story, I had a hiatus from singing in a band for nearly 30 years, (raising kids, supporting my family solo and establishing my business in the initial years kind of had to take priority!) so it was pretty wonderful when I decided at 50 that I wanted to get back into it. My kids were all grown up, my business is ticking along nicely, and I have more time now than I've ever had before to follow my passions again.

So I put it out there to the universe, set the intention, and an opportunity to try out with a really talented local band literally feel into my lap within weeks! It's incredible what happens when you believe that it's possible, and you take the steps to make it happen.

So we play around every couple of weeks at least, and last night we gigged at a local club in the south of Sydney called Club on East and I knew it was going to be a great night when the dance floor filled up in the first couple of songs of the first set!

It was one of the best public gigs we've done since lockdown ended, and this is what fills my cup on a personal level. As business owners, we all need to remember to live our lives passionately, and do what lights us up. It makes us better humans, to be fulfilled in every aspect of your life, and I wanted to share a few photos of last night because you can see just how happy I am! And I bring that joy with me to my work.

15 WEEKS UNTIL MY BODY SCULPTING COMPETITION! So I 15 WEEKS UNTIL MY BODY SCULPTING COMPETITION!
So I’m 2.5kg down in 2 weeks and the muscles are starting to appear!!

One of the hardest parts (for me) about body building is the bulking stage where you intentionally gain extra weight so you build the most muscle. It’s a complete mind-funk!! As women we spend our whole lives wanting that scale weight to come down, but instead we watch it climb. I put on 5kg during the build time and I STRUGGLED with that as I was eating like a horse and doing everything the opposite of how women are taught to think and feel about food! - which is unhealthy in itself!!

So watching the scale number come down down these past couple of weeks is rewarding and seeing the muscles peeking through is even greater!! The tricky thing for me is to still keep building muscle while I reduce fat. (Last time I shredded I lost a lot of muscle which is heartbreaking - so hoping that doesn’t happen this time!)

It’s so important that I do everything right. Stick to my nutrient-carb-protein rich diet, (I’m still eating 2,000 calories daily), zero alcohol, no cheating with bad food, lots of sleep, and consistent training.

I’m focusing on how to pose and stand out on stage from here on in. This is where comps are won and lost. I had no idea that there is so much more to this sport than just lifting weights for a few months and trotting out on stage in a bikini! It’s been a very up and down 18 month adventure so far and I see now it’s never over if you want to keep being better.

It’s an emotional roller coaster testing your relationship with food (food is fuel, not comfort!!). A true test of your discipline with showing up each day for the training when there is nobody holding you accountable except yourself, and a test of your self-worth when every man and their dog has an opinion about what you’re doing and is happy to share it with you!!!

I do this 100% for me. I set the challenge 18 months ago, had tonnes of setbacks but I’m still here. Let’s see what happens!!

THE DANGER OF FITTING IN When we were in school, m THE DANGER OF FITTING IN
When we were in school, most teenagers just wanted to fit in. I know I did! It was so important to be in the ‘in crowd’ and I was lucky enough to live around the corner from a really popular girl, and piggyback off her popularity to be accepted by the cool group. Except, I wasn’t really being 100% me. I actually felt far more aligned with the quirky, creative kids. So I did the dance of trying to fit in with everyone, but deep down I had no clue who I really was. And I’ve done it most of my life to be honest. In friendships, relationships, business acquaintances… be the chameleon, adapt to the situation, hang with the cool kids, and be accepted by default.

That’s no way to live your life. But most of us are doing it.

I see all the time business owners and entrepreneurs copying what everyone else is doing in their personal branding and marketing… they are far more concerned about fitting in then actually standing out and being original! And people can feel it when you’re not being true to yourself, and therefore there’s nothing to connect with. And that’s largely why so many of your marketing messages aren’t sticking, because people just aren’t feeling you because you’re too worried about fitting in.

Since I’ve started tuning into being more of me and less of what is expected, I can’t tell you how many times I hear people say “you’re so intense”, or “you’re a bit full on”. I’m not sure if it’s kind of a compliment or kind of not. The point is, it’s not really my business what anybody thinks of me. It’s just their opinion based on their own beliefs about how people should be, and fitting in to their groove. Personally, I love “full on” people. My favourite people are extroverted, larger than life, boisterous, passionate, and full of life. They also have lots of conviction about what they’re doing and know where they stand on issues, and this comes through in their businesses and marketing. So if that’s intense for some people, that’s okay, not everybody has to like you.

Hear that again. Not everybody has to like you.

17 WEEKS TO GO - BODY SCULPTING COMPETITION If you 17 WEEKS TO GO - BODY SCULPTING COMPETITION
If you follow along with my posts, I always say that if you're a service-based business and a 'from the heart leader'... you should always put yourself at the front of your brand. People call it personal branding, but honestly, it's just about being real and sharing who you are, what you care about, and creating sincere connections with people that are genuinely interested in what you're up to. So that means also letting people into behind the scenes of your business and your life!!

So putting my money where my mouth is... some of you might remember I'm doing a body sculpting comp later this year (if I'm ready and don't break a bone again!), and I have 17 weeks of final preps. Which in the body sculpting world means SHREDDING! I have spent the past 6 months bulking and trying to build muscle, and now I start bringing the weight down slowly while I still madly train every other day to keep the muscle on.

(Sounds simple, but on this 51 year old post-menopausal body, it's not that easy to gain muscle like a woman 15 years younger than me - who I will be competing against!)

So right now, from when I took this photo last Saturday, I've already lost 1.5kg and doing well sticking to a strict calorie controlled diet - including zero alcohol! However I can't complain, I am lucky that I get to eat 2,000 calories which apparently is really generous for my age - thank you fast metabolism!!

Anyway, it's been a great journey so far in discipline with my diet, daily training, and keeping myself accountable as my incredible coach Emma Bowman Posing and Fitness Coach is based in Adelaide and it's all done online. Health is incredibly important to me, as well as mental toughness and commitment. And I've never enjoyed a solo sport so much where I'm hardly ever injured! Plus, I know I'm helping my future body by building muscle and strength, so everything about is a win/win.

Stay tuned for more pics as the weeks go by and the comp date gets closer!! I know I don't look that muscly, but apparently it all comes together in the final weeks. We'll see huh!!!

And just like that I'm now 51!! For anybody who ta And just like that I'm now 51!!
For anybody who takes the time to read my rather looooong (and often personal!) posts.... you'll know that the past five or so years haven't been the smoothest sailing for me and I really had a mini-breakdown turning 50 last year!

I was struggling with so many things - the biggest factor was feeling that I wasn't where I thought I should be at the age of 50. I thought I'd be happily married in a longterm stable relationship, own my home outright, multiple investment properties and a comfy lifestyle cruising around the country and working/holidaying with total freedom. But life hadn't worked out that way for me by the magical age of 50.

I'm the settled type. I love being IN a serious relationship, working together towards a common goal and striving for a good life together. Sure I've always been independent and often the breadwinner of my family, but I never felt like I was doing it alone. So to find myself turning 50, in a 'nob-committal relationship' that was really headed nowhere, with no focus, no dependent kids anymore to busy myself with and for the first time in my life really feeling quite solo... well, this codependent chick unravelled when I realised just how much I lived for other people and not for myself. I was clueless how to live just for me! and I imploded.

What we fear and what we crave are exactly the sam What we fear and what we crave are exactly the same. We crave real conversations and real connections with authentic people, and yet we fear opening up and letting people see the real you, especially when it comes to being personal in our social media and marketing our businesses around ourselves!
Imagine how good it could be if we just let go of that fear and do it anyway…

Imagine the impact we’d have and the people we could help if we didn’t care what people thought of us!

Last week I had the absolute pleasure to hear @samanthaleith present and her whole essence is around showing up 100% YOU. She entered the room singing and spent the whole night laughing, telling offbeat stories (completely relatable), sharing great content and it felt 100% authentic. It made an impact. How many people truly have the guts to just be themselves when they’re marketing their business?

It takes more than confidence to do that. It takes a knowing, a deep connection to your why, and an unshakable, unapologetic vision for your life. How many of us can truly say we have that!!

It’s possible. But we really need to dig to find it. But when we do… everything changes. Are you willing to go there?

Sometimes it’s nice to stay in over the weekend Sometimes it’s nice to stay in over the weekend when the weather is particularly ordinary, and give your business or passion project a bit of love. Tonight I’ve set myself up in a comfy chair, cranked the outdoor fire, made a hot chocolate and am letting the creative juices just flow…

Sometimes you need to get outside of your usual environment. This is actually my partner’s place, and it’s super cozy and inspiring. I often do my best creative thinking when I’m not in my office!

Hope you are having a great weekend too. Where do you do your best creative thinking?

DO PEOPLE REALLY CARE WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY? Let’ DO PEOPLE REALLY CARE WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY?
Let’s talk about why you’re REALLY not writing that blog post, sending out that e-newsletter, or pressing record on your video…
Deep, deep down, you’re concerned that people don’t want to hear what you have to say.

You might not even realise that’s what it is, but I can guarantee you I see it daily in my world! Clients who have a lot to say and so much value to bring… but are holding themselves back because their own blocks are getting in the way.

So you mask it as perfectionism – “I’ll do it when I lose weight, or when the setting is absolutely perfect”.
You mask it with avoidance – “I have a hundred other things I need to get done today!”
You mask it with indifference – “I won’t bother, it doesn’t work anyway!”
And my personal favourite… you spend so much time fluffing about doing absolutely everything else by being “so busy”, that you end up ignoring one of the best ways to bring awareness to your business and your services… and that is to create original, interesting and sincere content.

We are all held back by so many blocks, so many self-limiting beliefs getting in the way of reaching our fullest potential!

As you might already know, I love doing personal development work on myself. And recently I uncovered a real doozy about myself which has been holding me back for decades. And that is… I don’t actually do things for myself. I don’t really rate my own importance. I have lived my entire life doing/ serving/ creating/ supporting/ performing for everybody else that matters in my life – except me! (Continued in comments)….
It’s very rare I catch a sunrise… but catching It’s very rare I catch a sunrise… but catching a big red full moon rising out of the water tonight while I was walking the esplanade after work… that was pure bliss!!
Been doing lots of meditating and journalling lately, so sitting under a full moon tonight just capped it off! Very grounding and so grateful to live in a beautiful part of the world.

BE NICE & DON'T HOLD GRUDGES! Happy Friday to all BE NICE & DON'T HOLD GRUDGES!
Happy Friday to all my business owner friends and people on a mission to make this world a little better with what your 'special sauce' is!

This is a happy little story about an old client of mine soon to be back in the Divine Creative fold again. 5 years ago I came into their company, and completely redid their brand including their logo, all their stationery, brochures, annual report, signage, website, video, marketing strategy... THE LOT!

They loved it and then right when everything was good... the GM left - under strained circumstances. And because I was associated with him, after my last project was completed they stopped using my services. But over the next few years every time they'd send me a random email with a quick question or a request when they were in a pickle, I'd help them out. No questions asked, no bad blood, and no request for payment. I figured a 5-10 min response from me was no big deal considering our past relationship and it was just kind to help out quickly.

So guess who got back in touch this week! That client! One of the original board members who remembered what an amazing job we did, wants me to work on their upcoming annual report and website again, and confessed that one of the main reasons why he got back in touch is because I kept the lines of communication wide open and friendly during that time. In short, he didn't feel embarrassed or sheepish to call me, because I never got weird about them using other people.

Let's be realistic, clients move on all the time. So don't lose the plot, just smile and be gracious. AND KEEP THEM IN YOUR MARKETING LOOP!!! (this is why email marketing and consistent social media is soooooo important!!). And when the pendulum swings back around again as it so often does, accept them back with big wide open arms! I've been in business nearly 25 years and it happens over and over again.

If you did a good job in the first place and you find a way to stay top of mind... people always come back to you. It's the basic Law of Reciprocity! So keep giving, be good at what you do, keep smiling, and let the universe take care of the rest.
xo
When I turned 50 last year I very nearly imploded! When I turned 50 last year I very nearly imploded! Ha ha, I look back at it now and shake my head at how tough I was on myself. It all came from a place of having too many rigid expectations on being at a certain place in my life by a certain time. And even though it took a little while and losing my voice for a couple of months, as soon as I realised I had to let go of those expectations and the "I should be" statements, I started feeling soooooo much better.

I also changed the things that were in my control, that I wasn't happy about. (We can do that you know!!)

• End that relationship if it isn't working for you (and you've given it a red hot go).
• Sack that client/friend/family member if they make you miserable.
• Forgive people that have 'done you wrong'. They're only doing the best they can.
• Not where you thought you'd be in life? Let those societal expectations go. You're EXACTLY where you're meant to be, so just be there and learn what you're supposed to by being in that experience, and then move through it rather than avoid it, because the lesson never leaves you!
• Love the people who stand by you, appreciate them. And tell them.
• Find what you are passionate about, and pursue that. We are allowed to feel joy every day, pursue that.
• Get to know yourself and your triggers. And then work on them if they are negatively impacting you. There is an opportunity for growth every day if we remain open.
• Become your own best friend. Learn how to self soothe - not look for comfort/praise/acceptance from others.
• Laugh and love. It doesn't have to be a romantic partner. Love your friends. Love your kids. Love your family. There is so much love around us, revel in what you have rather than what you don't.
• Love yourself. You are uniquely awesome.

I'm 51 in a couple of weeks and I'm happy to say that I'm really okay with it. I now realise I'm in an awesome stage of my life, no matter how different it may look to society's expectations of where I "should be".
I learn something new about myself every day, and can always find something to be grateful for and to love, and that being healthy and alive is such a gift. And that is all that matters.
x
Well I’m all for trying new things, and last nig Well I’m all for trying new things, and last night we went to the Nitro Drag Races! My ears are possibly permanently damaged from the noise of the engines, my throat is dried out from the fumes, and I don’t think my nervous system will ever get over the first race and the physical impact of the sound waves hitting you in the guts when the cars take off…!!!

But wow, what a great adrenalin rush if you’re into cars and things that go bloody fast!
Ha ha, my turn to choose an activity next weekend Mark DeBattista… look out xo

Sometimes the simplest things in life are the best Sometimes the simplest things in life are the best.

Smiling at a stranger and giving them a kind compliment for no reason at all but to make them feel good.
Being grateful for what you do have in the moment, and not worrying about what you think you want.
Getting out of bed and catching the early part of the morning before ‘life’ kicks in.
Move your body, even if just going for a walk in nature.
Let the early morning sun and fresh air hit your face and then…
Sit. Watch. Breathe. Just slow down!
Whatever has to happen can wait and if it can’t, make the time and get up earlier.
Think of 10 things you love about yourself and say them to yourself slowly. Feel it.
Send a message to somebody that you care about and tell them 10 things you appreciate about them.
Give without expecting anything in return.
Forgive people, just let it go.
Forgive yourself. We can be our worst critics. Stop that negative self talk.
Smile.
Laugh.

And share your good mood with everyone you come into contact with. Because happiness is a way of life and it is contagious.

And if you are unhappy with some things in your life, use this early morning time to create the vision of what you want, and hold those good feeling emotions with you all day. I guarantee your life will change when you slow down and focus on the good and not the bad.

What I’m finding lately with new clients is that What I’m finding lately with new clients is that they’re doing ‘bits and pieces’ of marketing in a really adhoc kind of way, but they have no real strategy to the content they create, and certainly no consistency around its delivery!

And then they’re disappointed when it gets lame results so they stop altogether!

Marketing is such an opportunity for your business to grow. But it’s also a massive time drain with little rewards if you don’t do it smart and make real connections with your audience, which result in new business.

More and more I’m putting together marketing strategies and action plans for clients to either run themselves, or continue on with me to help them find a marketing assistant and then train them up to be a really valuable resource in their business. Their number one job is creating content and making you as visible (and appealing!) as possible to your potential customers. And your job is to keep being your brilliant self and delivering an awesome service!

You’re probably not a marketing expert… and you don’t need to be. That’s how we support you and your team. So when you’re ready, let’s have a chat about how to finally show up as the number one choice in your industry. And get the business that you deserve.

Being outdoors is my love language, so when the we Being outdoors is my love language, so when the weather forecast wasn’t rain and I had a coaching client 5 mins from here this morning… no prizes for guessing where I headed next with my laptop and notepad to do some work ON my business (and not just in it!)

Take your shoes off, sit on the grass, feel the sun and breeze on your skin and let yourself think and strategize big for the upcoming year!!

We have had such challenging times the past couple of years that have seen so many businesses crumble. Life hasn’t returned back to normal. It is different. And we need to catch up and map out a path of how we take our business forward on the other side of lockdowns.

Staffing and reinvigorating their business are my clients’ biggest challenges. Motivating tired and stressed (and sick!) team members. Finding new team. Reinvigorating bank balances. Finding new markets. Learning new technology. Finding ways to excite your audience who are completely over zoom and still unsure about public events. Reinventing tired old marketing strategies… there’s a lot to do. And it can be overwhelming.

So the first step is get in tune with what you want to achieve this year and next, map out a plan to get you there and figure out who’s going to help you.
And the next step after that is to get some help if you’re struggling with the first step!
Get in touch. Because creating a solid marketing action plan is exactly what we do.

21 today!!
And what a way to celebrate you last night! You are such a bright shining light… you always have been. Your kindness, sensitivity, creativity, humour, dedication, and loyalty are such beautiful traits.

Watching you jump up on stage last night and sing, totally in the moment, made me so proud. You are always such a team player, to watch you step up on your own and try something solo was amazing and one of my favourite memories of you so far.

Wishing you the most amazing adventures in life and can’t wait to watch you shine even brighter! You have a wonderful base of friends who we all loved partying with last night, a gorgeous partner who we adore (and adores you), a loving family who will always have your back… you really do have the world at your feet! Enjoy being 21 and seize life honey.

Happy birthday, lots of love from your mum xxx

(Ps - here is a random smash up of photos from the party at our place. Ky built the stage, designed the lighting and put it all together. It was a ‘k’ party if you’re wondering! most costumes were very cryptic!)
